Becoming a firefighter is a bit difficult these days. There have been many people who want to know how to become a firefighter and really intend to be good firefighters so as a result the fire departments add some requirements. The general average of firefighter salary in 2009 was 37,000 dollars a year but this firefighter salary doesn't include the extra time money. If this is your first year in the firefighting career, you will be paid about 30,000 to 45,000 dollars a year, but those who spent more than 20 years in the firefighting career are paid about 60,000 to 85,000 dollars a year
